Free Remove Line Breaks

Clean up messy text by removing line breaks and collapsing repeated spaces into one — perfect for text copied out of PDFs, emails or spreadsheets.

What is the remove line breaks?

A remove line breaks tool is a free utility that strips unwanted line breaks and extra spaces out of text, joining it back into clean, continuous copy. When you paste text from a PDF, email or spreadsheet, it often arrives broken across many short lines — this tool fixes that in one click. Slashit's version runs in your browser, so your text stays private, and it also lets you collapse repeated spaces or remove empty lines depending on what the text needs.

How our free remove line breaks works

1

Paste the messy text

Drop in text that's broken across lines or full of extra spacing — often the case with copied PDFs and emails.

2

Choose what to clean

Remove line breaks to join everything into flowing text, collapse extra spaces, or strip out empty lines.

3

Copy the clean text

The tidied text appears instantly — copy it and paste it into your document or editor.

What can you use the remove line breaks for?

Cleaning text copied from a PDF

PDFs break lines at fixed widths, so pasted text arrives chopped into short fragments. Removing those breaks restores flowing paragraphs.

Fixing text pasted from an email

Plain-text emails hard-wrap at around 70 characters, leaving ragged lines when you paste them somewhere else.

Preparing text for a single-line field

Form fields, spreadsheet cells and CSV values break when the content contains line breaks.

Tidying up OCR or scanned output

Text extracted from scanned documents almost always carries line breaks from the original page layout.

Tips for getting the best results

Keep paragraph breaks, remove line breaks

There's a difference between a single line break inside a paragraph and a blank line between paragraphs. Preserving the latter keeps the text readable.

Check hyphenated words

PDFs sometimes split words across lines with a hyphen. After joining the lines you may need to remove a few stray hyphens by hand.

Watch the spacing

Joining lines can leave two spaces where a line break used to be, or none at all. Scan the result before using it.

Frequently asked questions

Why does text from PDFs have so many line breaks?

PDFs store text line by line, so copying it usually keeps a hard line break at the end of every visible line. This tool removes those and joins the text back together.

Can it remove extra spaces too?

Yes. As well as removing line breaks, it can collapse repeated spaces into one and strip out empty lines.

Is it free?

Yes — it's free, needs no sign-up, and runs entirely in your browser.

How do I remove line breaks from text?

Paste the text in and the line breaks are stripped, joining the fragments back into continuous paragraphs you can copy straight out.

Will it remove my paragraph spacing too?

Single line breaks inside paragraphs are removed while blank lines separating paragraphs are kept, so the structure of your text survives.

Why does text copied from a PDF break oddly?

PDFs store text positioned line by line rather than as flowing paragraphs, so every visual line becomes a real line break when copied.

Is my text uploaded?

No. Everything runs in your browser, so you can safely clean up confidential documents.
