Tips for getting the best results
Test before you print
Scan the code with two different phones before sending anything to a printer. A code that fails on a poster is expensive.
Keep the link short
Less data means a simpler pattern, which scans faster and stays readable when printed small.
Leave the white margin
The quiet zone around the code is what lets a camera find it. Don't crop it or place artwork right against the edge.
Mind the contrast
Dark code on a light background scans best. Inverted or low-contrast colours often fail in poor lighting.
Print at least 2cm across
Smaller than that and many phone cameras struggle, especially at arm's length.
Common problems and how to fix them
My phone won't scan the code
Usually contrast or size. Make sure the code is dark on a light background, at least 2cm wide in print, and has clear white space around it.
It says the data is too long
QR codes have a capacity limit. Shorten the URL or reduce the text — a long link with tracking parameters is a common cause.
The Wi-Fi code doesn't connect
Check the network name matches exactly, including capitals, and that you picked the right security type. WPA covers WPA2 and WPA3.
